1. The LIRR (Long Island Rail Road), last stop is Montauk, http://lirr42.mta.info/. It is an easy trip.
2. The Hampton Jitney. Reservations are a MUST. Phone number (212) 362-8400, http://www.hamptonjitney.com. It is a comfortable bus ride.
3. Car..Directions:
A. LIE (495) to exit 70. Follow signs to Hamptons/ Montauk (this is Route 111).
B. Route 111 turns into 27 Montauk Highway There is a short highway that ends in Southhampton.
C. Take Montauk Highway thru all the towns since Montauk is "The End" (Southhampton, Watermill, Bridgehampton, Wainscott, Amangansett, Montauk). Traffic builds up around Southhampton and Watermill because of the traffic lights, then it opens up.
D. Go thru the town of Montauk, the Library is on the left hand side, about 1/4-1/2 mile outside of town.
If you are traveling by the LIRR or the Jitney, Lindy's taxi (phone number: 631-668-8888) or Pink Tuna taxi (there is always one around) will take you to the Library for about $4-$5.
